Where To Buy Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells – 2 Low Cost Options

I was recently searching online where to buy Bowflex adjustable dumbbells – and surprisingly, you can’t buy them from Bowflex’s own website.

You CAN, however, purchase them brand new directly from Amazon or eBay.  I checked a bunch of other stores and they’ve got knock-off brands that are not Bowflex.

Normally I go to Amazon for all my purchases, but today, I just had this urge to visit the official Bowflex website and check out the dumbbell products available.  I was curious to know how heavy adjustable dumbbells can get.

I was a little confused because the dumbbells I was looking at were out of stock, and this particular set of dumbbells had over 1000 great reviews.  I’ve been interested in knowing how heavy adjustable dumbbells can get if I ever chose to buy an upgrade from my Gold’s Gym set.  Mine goes up to 50 lbs each, which is more than enough for what I need.  Although I’m getting close to being able to do shrugs with all the weight I’ve got.  I attribute that to my new eating and work out plan.

Anyway, when I was doing a search, Bowflex dumbbells showed up, and that really intrigued me, cause I always thought Bowflex was that weird company that makes those bendy home workout machines that don’t make sense to me.

Bowflex Dumbbells On Amazon

You can find them both new and used right here on Amazon.  The most popular version with the best reviews is the Bowflex SelectTech 552.  You get two adjustable dumbbells, each weight adjusting up to 52.5 .bs.  They have amazing reviews, which I ran through a review checker, cause I never trust Amazon reviews at face value.  A lot of products I run through this site actually fail.

But these dumbbells passed the test, so it’s very likely that the majority of the reviews are in fact legit.

On Amazon, the SelectTech 552 adjustable dumbbells are $458 plus free shipping and you get two dumbbells for that price.

Amazon also has the SelectTech 1090 adjustable dumbbell for $795 for a single dumbbell.

The difference between the Select 552 and the SelectTech 1090 is the amount of weight per dumbbell.

If you purchase the 552, you get 2 dumbbells which go up to 52.5 lbs each.

If you purchase the SelectTech 1090, you receive one single dumbbell that goes up to 90 lbs.  Also, with the 1090, you have the option of paying in 12 installments.

Bowflex Dumbbells On eBay

You can get the Bowflex 552 Adjustable dumbbells right here on eBay.  They offer free fast shipping, which is pretty awesome.  If you’ve got PayPal credit, you can pay $48 per month for 12 months, which you CANNOT do on Amazon with this same product.

where to buy bowflex adjustable dumbbellsYou can also purchase the SelectTech 1090 adjustable dumbbells on eBay, which are actually less expensive than Amazon because you will get the pair of dumbbells as opposed to a single dumbbell on Amazon.

On eBay, you can get the SelectTech 1090 dumbbells for $1,249.90 plus free shipping.  So you’re saving a few hundred dollars off the price that you’d pay on Amazon.

Also, if you chose to get the SelectTech 1090 dumbbells, you can use PayPal credit to pay $53 per month for 12 months.

I’ve actually started doing this recently with more expensive products, like my brand new Bose earbuds.  They use a company called Klarna where you can pay it off without interest for 4 months and I love that option, especially with stuff I really want, but I know I just can’t shell out all that money all at once.  If I were paying interest, it would be a different story.

Unavailable On Bowflex Website

At the time of this writing, adjustable dumbbells aren’t available at Bowflex.com – I spoke to customer service and they told me all their dumbbells are sold out, and you can enter your email to get on their list.  They’ll send you an email once they’re available again.  The guy I spoke to told me all their dumbbells have been sold out since the beginning of COVID-19.

I guess it does make sense that they’ve been sold out since the beginning of us all being stuck at home.  We’ve all had to figure out new workout plans, which for, a lot of people most likely include having dumbbells that are portable and don’t take up a lot of space.

Available On Various Websites

I saw the dumbbells available on Etsy, which I think is really strange because I thought Etsy was a marketplace for original and creative craft items.  They had limited stock available.  I also saw them available on Dick’s Sporting Goods website, but you had to pick them up in-store if you were to order them.  I saw them on other sites too like WebCitz, NewEgg, and a few others.  But I don’t know much about these websites’ reputations, so you may want to do a search and see what you think.

eBay Has The Best Deal On These Dumbbells

If I was looking for where to buy Bowflex adjustable dumbbells, and I had the choice of Amazon, eBay, and the Bowflex website, well I’d PROBABLY go with the Bowflex website.  Too bad they’re sold out of their products.  But hey, you may be reading this after they’ve restocked.  I’d just go with Bowflex’s own site, simply because I’m guessing the warranty for something this expensive is always going to be better straight through the actual manufacturer.

My next choice would probably just be eBay, cause they have pairs that are brand new, and a fraction of the cost of what you’d buy them for on Amazon, at least for the SelectTech 1090 dumbbells.  I would double-check though just to make sure I have a solid warranty through eBay.  I don’t normally make purchases on eBay, but I have no problem buying from them.

And, as far as Amazon goes, I think everyone has purchased an item from there at some point.  We know that whatever we buy from Amazon is covered and they’ve got you covered if something were lost or damaged.  The price of the SelectTech 552 dumbbells is comparable to eBay, but I just wish Amazon had a 12-month payment plan for those.

I bought my dumbbells about 8 years ago I think, and they still work great.  Sometimes the little weight changer latch thing gets stuck, but it’s no big deal.  I just pick up the weight and it loosens, giving me the ability to increase or decrease weight..

If I were gonna get another pair, I’d go with the Bowflex, and possibly the version with heavier weights, just cause I’m thinking, why not have more weight available, even if I don’t need it.  I don’t know what kind of fitness goals I’ll set for myself down the line.

I hope this article was helpful as to where you can get yourself a set of Bowflex adjustable dumbbells.  If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below and I’d be happy to answer them for you.  Thanks for reading!

  1. I’ve thought many a time about purchasing the Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells! I would never need to go higher then 50 lbs. How weird that they don’t have these dumbbells available on their own website. But I guess with COVID, this makes sense as a lot of people have started having to workout from home.  Is there a price difference between Amazon and the Bowflex website?

I also find it weird that the Bowflex Select Tech 1090 is sold in a single instead of a pair!

I have heard from a few people who have the Select Tech dumbbells and love them! Thank you for this article. It was very helpful!

    1. Hey Anna thanks for the comment!  Yeah, these look awesome to me too, and I’ve seriously considered selling my current set of dumbbells, even though they’re great, just to upgrade.  That’s great that you know people who love theirs…i mean the good thing also is Bowflex has been a well known company for so many years, and we know their reputation is strong.

And yes, it’s odd that the 1090 sells as a single rather than a pair…but you can find them as a pair online too.  I’m noticing that Amazon and eBay both keep updating with new prices, and eBay especially is having new sellers who have these dumbbells, so I’d keep checking back.

  2. The price of these adjustable dumbbells looks rather high, but I guess they might be cheaper than a combined set of all the dumbbells you would have to buy otherwise. Is that correct? I guess that, besides cost, one of the main benefits of an adjustable pair is convenience, as you do not need to go back and forth to the rack in order to get another set. I never knew that there are adjustable dumbbells, so I learned something new today. Thanks for your review.

    1. Hey Jerry thanks for the comment – yep, adjustable dumbbells are SO much more convenient than having a huge rack of dumbbells.  I don’t know how much individual dumbbells cost.  I know that for my Gold’s Gym dumbbells that I have at home, it was about $500 total for them, and I think I bought those around 2012 or so.  They are pricey but for me, they’ve been totally worth it.  I guess it really just depends on what kind of setup you want at home, and specifically what kinds of exercises you’ll be doing.

  3. I must admit that my mind immediately goes to doing repetitions with my television remote control when thinking about exercising with dumbbells.  With that said, your review of the Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells was very enlightening and very interesting.  Like you, I typically refer to buy my more expensive items directly from the source except when I can find the items at a lower price.  I was a little shocked that you could find the product on eBay with such a deep discount over Amazon.  The one thing that you didn’t mention on the SelectTech 1090 dumbbells is how much would they have been on the BowFlex site, and also, are they typically sold as a single or as a pair?

The Select Tech 552 looks like they have gone on sale from $458 plus shipping to $349 with shipping on Amazon?  If so, Amazon would definitely have the better deal on this size over eBay.   I really enjoyed reading your article, and it was very well written.

    1. Hi Theresa – thanks so much for the comment.  That’s funny what you said about doing repetitions with the television remote 🤣.  You know what, maybe the price went down on Amazon right after I wrote the review.  That would be an amazing deal and you’re right, then Amazon would be the better deal.  I wonder how quickly these prices switch around.

And to answer your question about whether or not they’re usually sold as a single or a pair, what I noticed on both Amazon and eBay is that some sellers would be selling a single dumbbell and others would be selling the pair, but the prices I marked down were for the pairs cause I don’t know why someone would want to buy a single dumbbell!

Oh, and the Select 1090 on the Bowflex website go for $759 for the pair, but unfortunately they aren’t available at the moment and they didn’t know when they’ll be back in stock.  Apparently these all sold out right when Covid began.
