The Benefits Of Drinking Water To Lose Weight – 5 Reasons To Hydrate Daily

The benefits of drinking water to lose weight are many, and I honestly didn’t know of quite a few of them until more recently. We all know water is an essential part of our diet, but to understand the details of how it really affects our bodies, especially when it comes to weight loss is another story.

Every single year, countless weight loss supplements are released on the market that promise amazing results, only to disappoint most people who take them. It doesn’t end with supplements either. There are gadgets, diets, and workout programs that all promise to blast that fat away.

It’s no wonder people are hesitant to jump on to the next big thing. There’s no knowing the actual effectiveness and/or side effects of new products and programs that are released. That’s especially true when the majority of them aren’t even backed by any kind of scientific proof.

I follow a home bodyweight workout program that has a very supportive Facebook community. In the group, one of the guys told me that I should be drinking at least 80 ounces of water per day for optimal fat loss and muscle building. This is especially true considering the intensity of the workouts we’re doing. I realized I wasn’t getting that much water in each day, but since then I’ve been tracking it very carefully.

Successful weight loss is a result of changing our eating habits and learning to eat at a simple calorie deficit. I teach that in so many articles, so I won’t be getting into that today. However, one of the things we can change right away to help accelerate weight loss is our water intake. Why not use the safest and natural substance to lose that unwanted fat?

Water & Weight Loss

it may not be too surprising to some, but water can actually help lose weight and improve your overall functionality. Aside from the fact that it’s the safest and most natural substance you can put into your body, it’s widely available and you don’t need any special instructions to actually take it. We all know how to drink water!

There is evidence showing how water helps with weight loss, but the actual amount that we need to take in order to significantly lose weight isn’t known.

As amazing as it is for hydration, the benefits of drinking water to lose weight are fantastic. Let’s find out 5 ways drinking enough water can actually help you lose weight.:

1 – Improves digestion

Since water is a universal solvent – it can break down substances better than other types of liquids. Because of this, drinking water, as opposed to soda, or other sugary drinks, will actually help break down food faster.

It also helps push the food through your body more quickly, which helps improve your digestive system and soften your stools to prevent constipation. This eliminates the buildup of food and allows you to flush everything out, and that includes the weight of food. Had to get the gross benefit out of the way first πŸ™‚

2 – Appetite Suppressant

Water is the safest appetite suppressant you can put into your body, compared to pills, powders, and other supplements that could very well cause you to have an allergic or chemical reaction when taken. Water also doesn’t cost you a penny.

To use it as an appetite suppressant, drink 1 to 2 glasses of water before each meal. It causes you to be full before you even begin eating, which prevents you from overeating. By drinking plenty of water, you’re also preparing your stomach for the digestion process.

3 – Lower Calorie Intake

Water is one of the amazing wonders of nature. As we all know, it’s naturally free from calories. Compared to other processed beverages and even some natural ones, water will make you feel fuller without adding more calories to your body.

I have helped several friends lose weight over the course of the last year, and the biggest thing I teach is you must eat at a calorie deficit to drop pounds.

If you swap out one sugary 12-ounce soda per day and replace it with a glass of water, you’re saving yourself 140 unneeded calories. Make that into a habit, and you’ll start to see the weight come off in just a few short weeks.

There are also some studies that show how drinking water before and during meals actually encourages you to eat fewer calories during your meal.

4 – Increased metabolism

Especially when chilled, science proves that water tends to stimulate thermogenesis or the production of heat in the body. What this does is help your fat cells to release fatty acids.

Though it could be a complicated process to explain, in layman’s terms according to some scientists and healthcare providers, water can help in the production of heat in the body that helps boost your metabolism.

That means you’ll have a much easier time losing weight if you drink plenty of chilled water throughout the day.

5 – Improved sports and fitness routines

Water keeps a person hydrated, especially when doing physical activities. It does not only prevent dehydration but also helps to reduce muscle cramps and fatigue.

Especially if you’re active, make sure to get into the habit of drinking water before, during, and after your workout routine or when practicing sports. Just remember to wait for the water to go down before continuing your activity in order to avoid cramps.

So, Does Water Really Help in Weight Loss?

Yes, water can really help in weight loss, in ways that we wouldn’t normally think of. This is especially helpful for those looking for the best, all-natural alternative to diet pills and other supplements that promise to blast fat overnight.

What I’ve learned over the years, is the fewer chemicals and unneeded substances we can put into our bodies, the better. Our bodies respond best when we feed them with natural and wholesome foods. Water is as natural as it gets.

Of course, the most effective method of weight loss is to follow a simple & healthy eating plan. What I teach people to do is eat at a reasonable calorie deficit which helps to drop 4 to 5 pounds per month. Water is an important part of that eating plan. Adding a powerful workout program to your eating routine can yield absolutely amazing results.
