This Fit Crunch Bars review comes from a guy who just discovered the product last week. I was walking through the giant Walgreens down the street from me, getting some of my steps in for the day. Actually, I finally invested in a treadmill last night so I’m no longer gonna be a weirdo store aisle walker just cause it’s freezing outside.
But back to this Fit Crunch bar. I was walking through Walgreens and saw it on the shelf next to Pure Protein, Quest, and a variety of other protein bars. I was actually debating between getting this one and a Pure Protein bar.
My experience in the past with Pure Protein bars wasn’t the greatest, cause I remember they had a sort of chalky aftertaste, but maybe that’s changed. It’s been a while. Still, I went with this one. Plus, it looks more like a real candy bar than Pure Protein bars do.
Not that it really matters in the end cause my intention with purchasing this Fit Crunch bar was to get my whey protein in for my post workout, which it clearly says on the packaging that it’s a Whey Protein baked bar. I’m not sure if it being baked makes any difference to me, but anyway, I saved it to eat right after my Monday workout.
Normally, I make this amazing protein shake, in which I combine milk, various fruits, like a banana, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, pineapple, peaches, and mango (I’m probably missing something!) along with my favorite whey protein into a blender. I’m seriously obsessed with this drink cause it literally just tastes like a delicious thick and creamy shake…which, it is.
But yesterday…I did things differently, cause I’ve got this Fit Crunch bar and I told myself I’d write a review on it after I ate it. It was very good. Did I love it? Not exactly, but I really liked it. It’s kinda funny cause I feel like most reviews on this site are me raving about some product that I use every single day, like the love affair I have with my Ninja air fryer.
This Fit Crunch protein bar, I only had once, which was yesterday, and I’m writing this review now, while it’s fresh in my mind. So let’s get to it.

Tastes Like A Candy Bar
I figure this is probably one of the most important factors you may be looking for. I’ll admit, I bought it because it looked like a candy bar, just based on the packaging alone. When I opened up the package, it reminded me a lot of the Detour bars I used to eat. In fact, this one looked even better on the outside with its swirl of chocolaty colors.
However, Detour bars tasted exactly like a Snickers bar to me. I wasn’t even sure if they still existed, so I just checked them out on Amazon, and it’s funny cause immediately I’m seeing reviews of people comparing Detour to Snickers bars. Apparently they were discontinued from many physical stores, which is why I haven’t had one in so long. I never even thought to look on Amazon.
However, this Fit Crunch Bar doesn’t exactly taste like a Snickers bar, but I wasn’t expecting that anyway. Plus, that would be a lot to ask for right? It DOES taste like a candy bar though. I do feel that it had the slightest chalky aftertaste of whey protein that you get from a lot of protein powders. I’m not sure if that’s just me being overly observant though. I feel like I notice that flavor very easily in just about any Whey Protein product.
Overall the experience of eating it was great! I ate it with a glass of milk and a banana, and it was pretty damn good. I would definitely eat this again. But to be honest, now that I know Detour is still out there, I am seriously thinking of grabbing a box of those!
Good Protein to Calorie Ratio
The reason I’m saying “good protein” and not “great protein” is cause the amount of protein in ratio to the amount of calories in whatever I’m eating is really important to me.
I’m all about getting my protein in for the day in as few calories as possible, so I can eat way more of my favorite foods the rest of the day. A Fit Crunch protein bar has 380 calories, which is kind of a lot, considering there’s only 30 grams of protein in the bar.
I’ll just break the math down for you really quick so you can understand how I like to calculate this stuff. The whey protein that I personally use for my post work out has 170 calories and 30 grams of protein per scoop. I combine that with a glass of skim milk, which has 80 calories, and 8 grams of protein.
So, my normal post workout shake, just milk and whey protein powder alone, add up to 250 calories and 38 grams of protein. A Fit Crunch Bar is 380 calories with 30 grams of protein. If you combine that with a glass of skim milk, you’re eating 460 calories and 38 grams of protein.
My Normal Post Workout Shake – 250 Calories (38 Grams or Protein)
Fit Crunch Bar & Milk – 460 calories (38 Grams of Protein)
Now, as I said, the bar tasted great…but it is an additional 210 calories over my normal whey protein powder that I personally like to save for adding tons of fruit to my smoothie. Or, a couple of beers on a drinking night. Or a slice of pizza or whatever…
If the protein and calorie numbers don’t matter to you, then this shouldn’t be an issue at all. It tasted great.
Super Convenient On The Go
This really goes without saying. I mean, if you buy a box of Fit Crunch bars from Amazon, you can easily take these with you wherever you go, and get a really tasty chocolate bar with 30 grams of whey protein in it. If you’re on the go or travel a lot, then these are fantastic investment. You can easily store a few of these away in your bag while you travel.
I would absolutely invest in a box of these if I knew I was going on a trip for a week or somewhere that it wasn’t convenient for me to just open a container of whey protein and make my shakes. In fact, when I do go on trips, I take these amazing Core Power protein shakes with me so I don’t get all weird in public trying to make protein shakes from little zip lock bags of protein powder. I’ve done that before though!
But, even those Core Power drinks are a bit bulky compared to these Fit Crunch bars. These are light and easily storeable in any bag. I wouldn’t really want to store 4 bottles of the Core Power in a bag cause of their weight. But storing 4 or more of these Fit Crunch bars in a bag would be super simple.
Fantastic Reviews & More
As I mentioned, I’m new to Fit Crunch Bars. It’s not like I’ve eaten it a million times. But if you check Amazon, this company definitely has its raving followers. I wasn’t expecting that, cause I’d never even heard of this brand prior to seeing it on the shelf at Walgreens.
The reviews I saw came from the flavor I bought, which was Peanut Butter. Here are some other flavors you can find:
- Birthday Cake
- Caramel Peanut
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
- Cookies and Cream
- Peanut Butter and Jelly ????
- Variety Pack
They’ve got almost 2,000 raving customers over the Peanut Butter flavor I personally bought. I can understand that. Like I said, it tastes really good!
The company says their Peanut Butter bar is an award-winning baked bar, which is arguably the best protein bar ever created, which to me, is a very bold statement, considering I’ve had Detour, and I personally thought it was the most amazing protein bar I ever had…it was practically a Snickers bar with protein in it!
But the reviews go on and on, and if you’re a health nut interested in understanding more about the macros, or the fact that this bar is gluten free, baked, and only has 6 grams of sugar, then check out the reviews and details on Amazon where they go into much more explanation of these additional features.
Overall – A Very Tasty Protein Bar
I hope this Fit Crunch Bar review was helpful. It was my first time writing about a product I wasn’t super familiar with. As I said, I ate the bar yesterday after my workout, and I really liked it a lot.
It’s got quite a lot of calories for how much protein is in the bar. That’s a little much for my personal taste, but if that doesn’t bother you, then I think this is a great investment. I don’t have too many other protein bars to compare this to, except for Detour as I mentioned multiple times in this article, which I absolutely loved cause of its resemblance to a Snickers bar.
Well, actually, I can flat out say that this Fit Crunch bar is WAY better than Pure Protein bars I’ve had, at least from my own experience, there’s no comparison. This actually tastes like a candy bar. A Pure Protein bar, at least from what I remember, tasted like a chalky yet sweet bar that I’d have no desire to eat again. This bar, I WOULD purchase again cause it was borderline delicious.
There are tons of protein bars out there that I don’t even know about. Are there any that you’d recommend? I’d love to learn more about any bars or proteins you consume that you really enjoy. If you have any comments on this or any questions at all, please leave them below and I’ll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks so much for reading!
