I’ve been having a lot of fun listing out weight loss inspiration quotes recently, and decided to post another article of quotes today. On our journeys to better health, it’s important that we maintain a healthy mindset.

When it comes to weight loss and getting fit, it can be incredibly overwhelming on some days. It’s on days like that in which we need to connect with our inner selves and remember why it is we set off on this journey in the first place.

If you’re here, you know there is no overnight success when it comes to getting into shape. It’s a long term game that requires dedication, consistency, and perseverance.

1 – A MONTH FROM NOW…YOU CAN EITHER HAVE A MONTH OF PROGRESS OR A MONTH OF EXCUSES WHY YOU DIDN’T

It’s one thing to think about the things we want to accomplish, and dream, and envision what we’ll look like having our ideal bodies, but it’s a completely other scenario to just get up and start working towards those goals.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, especially during the pandemic, is that getting up and working makes all the difference in the world. Thinking about it does very little for us. And it’s very easy to make excuses as to why we can’t do this or do that.

Just get started. Be imperfect. You will make mistakes. Mistakes are stepping stones to where you’re trying to go. Don’t be afraid of failure. Every great leader in this world failed hundreds of times on his or her path.


2 – I’M NOT LOSING WEIGHT. I’M GETTING RID OF IT. I HAVE NO INTENTION OF FINDING IT AGAIN

I thought this one was funny. And I think it’s important to point out that looking at things from this perspective is actually more helpful. When you think of it as “losing weight”, it feels a bit more like a diet.

However, if you think of it as something you are proactively doing…getting rid of that weight by taking steps and actions to make sure you blast that fat away, it’s different.

You’re in control. This workout & eating plan here helped me learn exactly how to take control, so that I began to make decisions on my own regarding fat loss or gaining muscle. Whether I want to lose weight, or gain muscle, it’s completely up to you when you have a road map to follow.

3 – SET GOALS. STAY QUIET ABOUT THEM. SMASH THE SHIT OUT OF THEM. CLAP FOR YOUR DAMN SELF. REPEAT.

Goals really are a big deal. When you make a decision to lose 5 pounds of fat in a month, or gain 2 pounds of lean muscle in 60 days, these things happen when goals are clearly defined.

They happen with strategic planning. They happen when you know exactly how to measure your progress and when there is no room for error.

This is why I strongly suggest following an eating and workout plan that is tailored to your specific goals and needs. This way, you don’t have to wander around the gym aimlessly for two hours only to make mediocre progress.

Instead, you’ll walk in confidently, smash the hell out of your workout in 45 minutes, and head home feeling on top of the world.

Quietly work towards these goals. No one else has to know. Let your physical transformation be proof that you care and that you’ve worked your butt off. You’ll be an inspiration to many.


4 – DON’T YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T GIVE UP?

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to give up in various fitness situations. In each one of these situations, I didn’t have a plan in place, or any kind of map to follow. I was randomly doing things to try to get to the next level in my fitness. But it always felt like it was in vain.

Hitting brick walls is easy to do on a fat loss journey. You’re way less likely to give up when you have a strategic plan to follow…one that’s tailored to your specific needs. Figure out exactly where you want to go and start working towards that goal.

Tiny steps every single day is the way to look at it. There’s no need to look at the larger picture. Just know what it is and focus on the small steps. It’s far easier to stay on track this way. And it will feel amazing knowing that you stayed in the game and didn’t give up.


5 – YOU MAY NOT BE THERE YET, BUT YOU’RE CLOSER THAN YOU WERE YESTERDAY

It couldn’t be more true. When we set off on a fitness journey to lose weight, progress is always going to take time. The best way to approach the journey into a healthy lifestyle is slow and steady.

There’s no such thing as overnight success when it comes to burning off fat. This is why fad diets fail more often than not. They set people up with the wrong mentality, that we can achieve amazing results with very little effort.

The progress you make is so much more rewarding when you take tiny steps every day. Just don’t stop. Keep working towards your goals, and you’ll get there.

6 – DON’T TRUST THE SCALE. TRUST YOUR JEANS

It’s so true. In fact. I’m personally gaining weight right as I’m eating at a calorie surplus. Luckily it’s in the form of muscle, and I’m happy.

And although my weight has gone up about 4 pounds in the past few months, my jeans have gone down from a 32-inch waist to a 30.

I’ve come to learn to not trust the scale nearly as much as you trust the changes happening in the mirror. Your jeans and what you see in the mirror are a much better gauge of the progress you’re making. The scale can be deceiving.


7 – IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW SLOWLY YOU GO AS LONG AS YOU DON’T STOP

Especially when you start to look at this a lifelong game. Fitness and health that is, you’ll realize there’s no room to just stop. You can move at whatever pace is comfortable for you, but don’t stop.

I keep learning constantly, and so will you. Things I’m learning now I thought I had figured out a year ago, which I obviously didn’t.

There’s so much to learn about health, fitness, and weight loss, and while you’re on the journey, you’ll be learning amazing new things about yourself every day.
